Delete your data
Masjid.ly has no accounts — you never signed up, so there's no password or account to close. What the app knows is tied to two random IDs it made on your phone: your invite code and a private install ID. Here's how to erase all of it.
Delete it from the app
This deletes your data from our server and from your phone in one go.
- Open Masjid.ly and tap the You tab.
- Tap Profile & account.
- Scroll to Your data and tap Delete my data.
- Confirm twice. Our server deletes everything it holds for your phone straight away, then the app clears the phone and gives itself a new invite code.
One exception: an invite code first registered by a version of the app from before September 30, 2026 isn't tied to your phone (nothing can prove which phone registered it). Then the app deletes what's kept under your private install ID — RSVPs, ratings, likes and Noor counts — clears the phone, and shows you your old invite code with a button to email it to us. We delete what's stored under that code once we can see no phone is using it any more.
Want a copy first? Get a copy of your data, in the same place, shows you what our server holds for your phone so you can save it (everything except your push token and the one-way scrambled values, which have nothing readable in them). For an invite code that isn't tied to your phone, the copy has only what's kept under your private install ID, and the app tells you so.
If the app can't reach our server, nothing is deleted — try again when you're online. You can choose to clear only the phone instead, but then the copy on our server stays (except your likes, which the app removes the next time it's online), and we can no longer match your RSVPs and ratings to you.
Then, if you like, delete the app. You can also turn off location and notifications for Masjid.ly in iOS Settings.
Why it has to be done from your phone. Your invite code is public — it's in every link you share — so it can't prove a request is yours. The private install ID on your phone can: it never leaves the app except inside the encrypted requests it sends our server, and it unlocks what's stored under your invite code only if your phone registered that code with it. We never send anyone stored data, or delete it, on an invite code alone.
Already deleted the app?
Email [email protected] with the subject “Delete my data” and your invite code if you have it (it looked like MJ-ABC123 and was under You chevron_right Invite & rewards). We'll delete what's stored under that code once we can see no phone is using it any more, and email you when it's done. We don't send copies of data by email. We reply within a few days and finish within 30 days.
What gets deleted from our server
- Your saved location and notification settings — followed masjids, speakers and topics, audience, quiet hours and the events you're watching
- Your push notification token and the log of notifications sent to it
- Your RSVPs and “How was it?” ratings
- Your likes (the events you've hearted), with the scrambled network fingerprint stored with them
- Your invite records — as an inviter and as a friend who joined — and your Instagram-follow credit
- Your share records, including the first name attached to them
- Any merch request, with the name and contact details you gave
- The scrambled fingerprints stored with your invite records to count each tap on your invite link once, and any network fingerprints stored with your invites or merch requests before September 30, 2026 (we no longer record those)
- The usage events recorded under your invite code, and your daily Noor question counts
- Any emails or messages you sent us, if you ask
What stays
- Public event listings — they come from masjids' own public posts and aren't about you
- Totals that were never tied to you, like anonymous event view counts and crash reports
- Short-lived request logs kept by our hosting providers, which expire on their own
Deletion is permanent. We can't restore your saves, RSVPs or invite count afterwards. If you joined with a friend's code, that credit comes off their count too.
